Game Mechanism
Hicked is a rpg style visual novel with an original combat system, which is what makes the game experience more immersive and playable, while also keeping the traditional 'dating sim' mechanism.
Story
The story is set in a dystopian future Japan. Civilization, once destroyed in world war Ⅲ, has been rebuilt after hundreds of years. And as the symbolizing of the new world, Kannagawa (神無川), the new capital prefecture of Japan was born.
Ikaru Kai, the protagonist from a rural town, has moved into Kannagawa and encounters a new race of people called "God Killers", who's known as people with distinctive white hair, and learns of the pitiful situation they're facing due to the discrimination they have endured.
He may not be able to do something as grand as changing the world, but he still wants to at least lend a helping hand. With this thought in mind, he meets Makiri Shogo, a bullied classmate who is a godkiller.
Choose your own adventure
The story includes 90k+ words and 4 Independent separate routes with different endings, all depending on the player's previous choices and actions.
Not only are there 2 dateable characters, but also 2 friendship routes with the heroine Hinako and Kurumi. Even if you aren't really a bl enjoyer you can still find the story interesting since it's not completely about romance.
Turn-based Combat System
The gameplay includes a turn-based combat system which will affect part of the story depending on the result. But since this is a visual novel and for those who are more of a reader instead of a gamer, the whole battle is completely skippable and the story will only depend on your choices.
Skills
The combat system isn't only about fighting. You sometimes will have to convince your opponent, or your friend, in order to get the result you want. Skills are more about negotiating and communication, which sometimes may not be the best choice to deal with something non-human.
